Getting to and from school safely
As a parent or carer, it’s your responsibility to get your child to and from school safely. Student safety is our priority.
Keep our school community safe by:
- driving and parking safely, even if it means parking further away and walking the rest of the way to school
- being a good role model
- never calling your child from across the road
- using the safest place to cross the road.
For parents and carers of younger children
Discuss with your child how to be safe when:
Also talk about and practise:
- safe travel routes
- plans for when unexpected things happen
- what to do in wet weather.
Subsidised school travel
Transport for NSW provides subsidies to assist school students.
- The School Student Transport Scheme provides eligible students with free or subsidised travel on public transport between home and school.
- The School Drive Subsidy may help towards the costs of driving children to school if you live in an area where there is no public transport.
Please help us keep your children safe by remembering the following:
- drop and pick up children on the school side of the road
- always take extra care when driving in 40km school zones
- follow all parking signs - these help keep children as safe as possible
- park responsibly even if this means you have tgo walk further to the school gate
- slow down to 40km/hr in the school zone and stay aware of crossings
- never double park - it is illegal and puts children at risk
- never do a U-turn of three-point rutn outside the school as it puts children at risk of harm
- model safe and considerate pedestrian and driver behaviours to your children
Safe Travelling to and from School
If there is to be any change to after school arrangements for young students, please write the teacher a note or send via School Bytes, this can prevent unnecessary upsets. Should you need to make last minute changes, pleases phone the Admin Team on 4932 8477 and your child will be notified. Please be mindful that the afternoon bell is 3.10pm.
Please travel to and from school with your Kindergarten child if they are not catching a bus. If this is not possible, please arrange for them to be accompanied by a responsible and reliable adult, older sibling or neighbour and inform their teachers on who will be dropping and collecting. Small children feel secure when accompanied by someone they feel they can depend on.
