Our principal and staff

Our school team is committed to every student’s learning, wellbeing and sense of belonging. We work together to create a supportive and inclusive school where every child is set up for success.

Welcome from our principal

Welcome to Telarah Public School, where every student is known, valued, and cared for. Guided by our school motto, “Learning to Live,” we are committed to developing confident, capable, and compassionate learners who are prepared to thrive in school and beyond. As Principal, I am proud to lead an experienced and dedicated team committed to ensuring every child has access to high-quality learning, strong wellbeing support, and meaningful opportunities to achieve their personal best.

At Telarah Public School, we are deeply committed to equity and excellence. We recognise the unique strengths and potential of every student and provide a learning environment where all children can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Our approach is guided by the High Potential and Gifted Education Policy, ensuring that every learner — from those needing targeted support to those demonstrating high potential — is challenged, extended, and inspired.

We proudly embed Aboriginal education across our curriculum and school culture, honouring the perspectives, histories, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This work strengthens our connections to the community and deepens our shared understanding of culture, identity, and belonging.

Our school’s teaching and learning practices are continually evolving through our work with Lyn Sharratt’s Clarity framework. We focus on improving pedagogical practice through reflective collaboration, instructional coaching, and professional dialogue. This ongoing commitment to professional growth ensures that our teachers deliver explicit, evidence-based instruction that meets the diverse needs of our learners.

Telarah Public School is also proud to be supported by an exceptional administration and support staff team. Our SASS and Learning Support Officers are true experts in their fields — providing invaluable assistance that enhances the daily learning experience for students and ensures the smooth and efficient operation of our school. Their professionalism, care, and commitment form the backbone of our inclusive and welcoming school culture.

At the heart of Telarah Public School is a strong, supportive, and experienced leadership team that works collaboratively with staff, students, and families to foster a culture of success, inclusion, and community pride. Together, we are building a school where every child has the opportunity to grow with confidence, curiosity, and care.

Thank you for being part of our wonderful school community. We look forward to a year filled with growth, learning, and achievement.

Warm regards,

Nathan Collins
